This page explains which personal data are processed when you visit obesite.ch or send a request to the Centre, for what purpose, and what your rights are under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP).
Data controller
SOS Swiss Obesity and Surgery SA, Chemin Monastier 15, 1260 Nyon, publisher of the obesite.ch website. It runs the Centre, its appointments team and the keeping of medical records.
Contact person: Dr Pierre Fournier, medical director.
For any question about your data: centre@obesite.ch, or by post to Centre de l’Obésité et du Métabolisme de la Côte, Chemin de Monastier 15, Le Corjon building, 3rd floor, 1260 Nyon, Switzerland.
When you visit the website
Like any web server, the server of our hosting provider, Infomaniak Network SA (Geneva), records technical data at each visit: IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type. These logs are used to run the website and keep it secure.
The website uses no audience measurement or advertising tools. It does not embed content from other websites (videos, maps, social media), and its fonts are served from its own server: your browser does not contact any other website unless you click an external link.
The website does not set any cookie during a simple visit. Technical cookies are used only for people who log in to the website’s administration area.
When you send an appointment request
The form asks for your first name, surname, telephone number and the reason for your request, chosen from a list. You may also give your email address, indicate that you would like to see Dr Pierre Fournier, and give your height and weight, which are optional. If you give both, your body mass index (BMI) is calculated and added to the request to help the appointments team arrange your appointment; it does not trigger any automatic decision. The language of the page and the date of sending are added to the request.
This information is used only to contact you and arrange your appointment. It is sent by email to the Centre’s appointments team (centre@obesite.ch). The website does not record it in its database.
If you give your email address, you receive an acknowledgement of receipt. It contains neither the reason for your request nor any medical information.
The reason for a request, your height and your weight may reveal information about your health. Please do not include any other medical information: you will discuss it with the team.
To block automated submissions, the form uses an invisible field and a technical token, without cookies. To limit the number of submissions, an irreversible hash of your IP address is kept for one hour and then deleted automatically.
Who receives your data
Your requests are read by the appointments team and, where necessary, by the Centre’s medical team, who are bound by professional secrecy.
Technical service providers act on our behalf. They process the data only to provide their service:
- Infomaniak Network SA (Geneva, Switzerland) hosts the website and the centre@obesite.ch mailbox;
- messages received at centre@obesite.ch are automatically forwarded to a Gmail mailbox read by the appointments team. Google, which provides this service, may process these messages outside Switzerland.
Your data are neither sold nor used for advertising.
Your medical record
If you become a patient of the Centre, the information needed for your care is entered in your medical record. This record is not part of the website. It is protected by medical confidentiality and kept in accordance with the rules that apply to patient records.
Retention
Requests received through the form are kept only for as long as needed to handle them and arrange your appointment. The appointments team deletes them from the mailbox itself, as a rule three months after your appointment has been arranged, or twelve months after the last exchange if the request was not followed up.
Your medical record follows its own retention rules, set by health law.
Your rights
You can ask which data concerning you are processed, have them corrected or, within the limits set by law, have them deleted. Write to us at centre@obesite.ch or by post to the address above. We may ask you to confirm your identity.
You can also contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), www.edoeb.admin.ch.
